Waterfront Property In Knoxville

Let's face it; when one thinks of waterfront properties, the state of Tennessee is not exactly the first location that springs to mind. When buyers want to find a nice piece of land located on a large body of water, they are most likely to start by looking at Prince Edward Island real estate or other provinces and states located close to the ocean.

However, there are many cities in the United States and in Canada which offer waterfront property even though they may look landlocked on a map. The bodies of water on which these locations are situated are lakes and rivers, with the former being the more popular amongst waterside real estate seekers. They don't offer quite the same environment as you might find were you to look at real estate in Toronto, but that refreshing beachfront is there nonetheless.

Knoxville, Tennessee actually offers several different waterfront locations for those who like the idea of stepping outside their backdoors for a bit of refreshing recreation. The city runs along three major rivers. The first two of these are the French Broad River and the Holston River. Although neither has the same unique appeal as the Pacific Ocean, and thus housing prices are much lower than those that can be found compared to real estate in Puerto Vallarta Mexico, they still offer a scenic homestead for interested buyers.

In the southeast part of Knoxville, both of these rivers join to form the much larger and more famous Tennessee River. This convergence of the three rivers is surrounded by some of the most pristine pieces of real estate in the entire Tennessee River Valley. The atmosphere is much like that provided further north by Toronto beaches homes; while the city is very close by, the environment and scenery help to make residences forget that there are thousands of people within three blocks.

As is the case with all major waterways in North America, the rivers of Knoxville were all first used as major transportation corridors. It's not surprising, then, to find that the beachfront property in Knoxville contains a large amount of buildings formerly used as factories and warehouses. Many of these buildings are falling into disrepair, but probably in the not-too-distant future their rejuvenation will come about in much the same way as has happened in many larger cities. Transformed into high density real estate, these buildings may command some of the highest prices in the Tennessee Valley!

While waterfront property in Knoxville may not be quite as glamorous as that found in other locations, it nonetheless offers all of the benefits of beach properties anywhere in the world. Recreational boats can be docked right off your backyard, and wonderful views of the rivers and the surrounding countryside can be enjoyed from decks. Toronto may have its lake and New York the ocean, but rivers offer just as much in the way of appeal as any other body of water.
